Management Team

Aaron Braaten, BA, MA of Economics, NCSO, DipNebosh, API 1160 Pipeline Inspector

Aaron Braaten was appointed President of Xi Safety in 2014 and also serves as Xi’s subject matter expert in Drilling and Completions as well as Pipeline Right of Way Clearing matters pertaining to forestry requirements including Danger Tree Assessment.

Previously, he was an Economist at the Energy Resources Conservation Board (now the AER). Aaron has also worked for Moody’s, and has significant field experience as a Surveyor.

Aaron holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Alberta, is a National Construction Safety Officer and holds various certifications through the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) and the American Petroleum Insitute.

Advisory Team

Matt Braaten, B.Comm, CA, CPA

Recently, Matt was the CEO of Xi Safety, but remains involved as a member of its Advisory Team. Previously, he has held executive positions with oilfield services companies in Calgary. Matt has almost a decade of experience in finance and auditing with global accounting firms.

Matt received his Bachelor’s of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta. He is currently a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and is a CPA.

Mike Horner, P. Eng, MBA, BlueBayou Management Ltd.

Mike is a Graduate of UBC’s Mechanical Engineering Faculty, holds a MBA from Simon Fraser University, with 30 plus years in the energy industry. industry. In addition to pipelines and power transmission Major Projects he has broad experience with refinery and sour gas plants. With significant experience in operations management, project management, and executive management,  Mike’s roles and responsibilities included management of operations in challenging physical and climactic environments, experience in US and domestic operations and project development, project directorship in major new greenfield and expansion projects, significant regulatory experience, and creation of major projects organizations and executive leadership roles in project areas.

External membership in various industry activities including President of Construction Owners Association of Alberta. In Mikes’ advisory role he will provide guidance and market growth strategies to the Management Group of Xi Safety TM Inc.

Darryl W. Braaten, NCSO, EMT, CFPS, (RET. Firefighter)

Mr. Braaten is a Senior HESS Professional with over 20 years of experience in Emergency Response Services and 15+ years Major Project HESS Management in Large Diameter Pipeline Projects, Facility Construction in Canada, the USA and overseas. Mr. Braaten was one of the founding members of Xi Safety TM Inc. and today serves as an advisor to the company in business development.

Keith Adams, CRSP, DipSM, CECM, WSO/CES

Keith brings a wealth of background experience in major projects that has included Western Canada, the USA and Middle East at the Director level.  He has been instrumental in championing worker competencies for companies and aligning those needs in identifying key strategies to prevent loss to personnel, equipment, property materials and the environment.  Keith serves as an advisor to the company in matters of market growth.
