Xi Safety was involved with our client providing project safety services for commercial construction projects such as new apartment construction in Calgary and a 175 townhouse project in Airdrie.
Xi provided HSE Lead Services for this project utilizing 3 rotational HSE Leads for ASEA Brown Boveri (ABB Power). This work consisted of the installation of power controls, lighting, Electrical Houses, cable pulls all performed at extreme heights working around multiple trades in a very congested worksite. Xi helped our client improve their overall HSE performance on the project by delivering quality work, on time with a stellar safety performance. With a workforce of 100 skilled electricians the company quickly invested the concept of building the safety culture within the project. This was during the challenging external conditions including the ongoing distraction of the Fort McMurray wildfires, heavy smoke and the on again off again notifications of site evacuation.
We provided Field HSE support to ASEA Brown Boveri (ABB) and their work scope on the Cenovus Phase 1F expansion. The work consisted of thirteen Motor Control Centres and associated cable pulls. Most of the cable pulling operations were conducted at extreme heights. We empowered ABB to improve their fall protection planning and the emergency response plan. ABB won accolades from the client for their high quality work that was delivered ahead of schedule with superior quality with a strong safety record.
Xi provided support to two First Nations groups engaged in pipeline right of way clearing work that consisted of clearing and logging pipeline ROW in steep terrain. Xi Safety was able to provide Project Safety Management for Fire Protection, Medical and Security. In this role, we bridged the best practices from forestry and energy sectors.
The project scope involved the demolition and reconstruction of the south facade of the Calgary First Alliance Church to expand classroom capacity. Xi Safety was initially brought in to create a Fire Safety Plan to obtain a City of Calgary building permit. Our scope expanded as we worked with the prime contractor to help them set up a safety management system and obtain their SECOR. We have also been providing periodic inspections of the work site and mentoring two on-site NCSOs.
Over a period of three months, Xi Safety was present on the project to collect baseline observational data of the underlying issues, and we worked with Management to craft a Corrective Action Road Map to get the project back on track. After implementing many of our recommendations, Altalink closed out this project with superior safety performance.
One of our clients was unaware of the medical requirements for an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR). They came to us in search of a trusted Medical Services Provider. In short order, we were able to provide medical services to enable the contractor to comply with regulatory requirements.
